Surfing Australia Awards

Nikon is excited to announce the Nikon Surf Photo and Movie of the Year are open for entries – part of the annual Australian Surfing Awards. These awards are being run as part of our partnership with Australia's peak Surfing organisation - Surfing Australia. There are great Nikon prizes on offer for both awards – so, make sure you enter either of the two categories below.

The 2014 Australian Surfing Awards are open to Australian Citizens and Residents and cover the period between January 1, 2013 and December 31, 2013. The awards recognise individuals and organisations who continue to develop surfing in this country through events, competition, business, media, photography, movies, clubs, travel, administration or pioneering new initiatives.

The Prizes

The winner of the Nikon Surf Photo of the Year will be awarded with a new Nikon D4 DSLR. The winner of the Nikon Surf Movie of the Year will be awarded with a Nikon D800 along with up to $2,000RRP of Nikon lenses and accessories.

Nikon Surf Photo of the Year

The Nikon Surf Photo of the Year is a prestigious award recognising the 'best of the best' in the Australian surfing photography industry. Previous winners have included Ray Collins, Jon Frank, Peter 'Joli' Wilson, Stuart Gibson and Jeremy Wilmotte whose images are published and recognised around the world.

The panel of 13 high-profile judges from within the surfing industry including renowned Australian adventure photographer and Nikon Ambassador, Mark Watson, are tasked with selecting the winning surfing photo based on a range of strict criteria.

The photo can be taken anywhere around the world and each photographer can enter up to 5 photos.

Nikon Surf Movie of the Year

Nikon Surf Movie of the Year

The Nikon Surf Movie of the Year Award will celebrate the best feature-length surf movie released in 2013. The movie must be filmed, produced, or directed by an Australian. There is a maximum of two entries per entrant.
