Nikon is excited to announce the winner for the assignment, Into the Night. There were many entries, but there could only be one winner.

The brief was to capture the change from day to night. For most people this represents a shift in mood and anticipation for what the night will bring. For the ‘Into the Night’ assignment My Nikon Life asked entrants to capture those distinct moments when day transitions to night, with up to 3 images that allow the viewer to feel that moment with the photographer. We paid particular attention to how you deal with challenging low light conditions, so it was a real test of entrant’s technical skills!

The Nikon judge decided on the following winner: ‘terriannek’ who won an unforgettable New Years Eve photography experience including:

  • Media accreditation to accompany the official city of Melbourne New Year’s Eve Photographer at the Family Festival and during the 9pm and midnight fireworks at the city of Melbourne New Year’s Eve 2010 celebrations.
  • Escort by the official city of Melbourne photographer, selected by city of Melbourne, for the city of Melbourne New Year’s Eve 2010 celebrations.
  • Full briefing by the official photographer before the event.
  • Post event catch up with the official photographer to review images captured.

Here’s what the judge had to say:

‘This entry felt like the one that best captured the atmosphere feeling of dusk, as day turns into the night. You can almost hear and smell the excitement of the funfair. Congratulations terriannek!’

We also had three highly commended entrants. Their entries and the judges comments are below:
