Announcing the new AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-5.4G ED VR

The AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm F/3.5-4.5G ED VR is a highly versatile lens with a focal length of 24-85mm, making it ideal for shooting in a wide variety of situations from wide landscapes,to intimate portraits.


The lens also offers an extensive set of features including superior vibration reduction (VR II), the Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for quiet autofocus and two focus modes – M/A (autofocus with manual override) and M (manual).

The AF-S NIKKOR 24-85mm f/3.5-4.5G ED VR is compact, lightweight and is perfectly matched to Nikon’s high performance, FX-format DSLR cameras, making it a lens that you can use in a variety of situations.


70 Million Nikkor Lenses Worldwide

We’re excited to announce that total production of NIKKOR lenses has reached 70 million worldwide.

Total production of NIKKOR lenses reached 65 million in October of 2011. Since then, Nikon has continued to actively develop new products under the NIKKOR brand and has released four 1 NIKKOR lenses available in various colours, suited to the first two cameras in the new Nikon 1 series. In addition to new FX-format compatible NIKKOR lenses that maximize the potential of high performance cameras such as Nikon’s new D4 flagship digital-SLR camera, D800 and D800E digital-SLR.


NIKKOR lenses utilize a number of cutting edge technologies, including Nano Crystal Coat, which virtually eliminates internal lens element reflections, ED Glass for unrivalled precision and the Silent Wave Motor (SWM) ultrasonic autofocus motor for smooth, silent autofocusing.

From initial design and development, production and quality is controlled in accordance with the highest quality designs and manufacturing standards that is synonymous with the Nikon brand.

The current Nikkor range consists of more than 70 lenses, including fisheye, super wide angle to super telephoto, zoom, Micro lenses, and PC-E lenses.


Announcing the new AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR

We’re pleased to announce the release of the AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR, a high performance zoom lens with a focal length of 18-300 mm, allowing a wide variety of shots from wide angle to super telephoto with just one lens.


The AF-S DX NIKKOR 18-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR also features built-in vibration reduction (VR II) to effectively reduce camera shake for easy telephoto shooting, ED and aspherical lens elements to offer superior optical performance in any situation.

The Camera GP2012 Camera of the Year award is presented to the best still camera released on the Japanese market between April 1, 2011 and March 31, 2012. This is the seventh time Nikon has received a Camera Grand Prix” Camera of the Year award”.

The Readers Award was selected through online voting by general users between March 20 and April 10, 2012.
With the selection of the D800 this year, Nikon digital cameras have received the Readers Awards four times in the past five years, proving just how highly regarded the cameras are by a large number of users.

The D800 also won the TIPA Award 2012 for the best expert DSLR at the same time the D5100 won the best entry level DSLR and the

Entries now open for the 2012 Nikon-Walkley Young Australian Press Photographer of the Year

Are you a rising star of Australian photojournalism?

Entries for the prestigious 2012 Nikon-Walkley Young Australian Press Photographer of the Year Award are now open.

Have you produced an outstanding photojournalistic image (or set of images) in the past year? Do you want to be recognised as the best emerging talent in your field?

Then don’t miss your chance to be crowned the 2012 Nikon-Walkley Young Australian Press Photographer of the Year.

Proudly sponsored by Nikon and presented by the Walkley Foundation and the Media Entertainment & Arts Alliance, this award recognises excellence in young photojournalists aged 26 and under. It celebrates the ability of young photographers to tell a story through their images.


Freelance photographer Harrison Saragossi was awarded the title of 2011 Walkley Young Australian Photographer of the Year for his refreshingly honest series of photographs showing a night out on the town for The Brisbane Times.

The prize

The 2012 Nikon-Walkley Young Australian Press Photographer of the Year will receive a Nikon 1 – an intelligent camera system crafted to bring new levels of speed, simplicity and enjoyment to your photography.


Who can enter?

This award is open to ALL Australian photojournalists aged 26 and under (on March 16, 2012), whether you’re employed full-time or freelance. And even if you’re in your final year at uni you can enter too!

How to enter

Entrants need to submit up to THREE images, where a minimum of one image must have been published or broadcast through Australian media outlets between March 16, 2011 and March 16, 2012. The deadline for entries is 5pm, 16 March 2012.

Judging and awards ceremony

The judging panel will draw up a shortlist of three finalists before selecting the winner who will be announced at a special event in Sydney on Wednesday 27 June, 2012.

You’ll also be in the running to win the title of 2012 Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year. As an entrant in the 2012 Nikon-Walkley Young Australian Press Photographer of the Year Awards, you will automatically be in consideration to win the title of the 2012 Walkley Young Australian Journalist of the Year.

As winner of this prestigious title, you‘ll jet off on a three-week trip visiting newsrooms at CNN in Atlanta, valued at $5,000.
