Extended 2 Year Warranty on D700, D3X and D3S available until 31 December 2011

If you’ve been debating with yourself, when's the right time to buy the new camera you need, we think you’ll agree that the time is right now. From now until 31 December 2011, we’re offering an Extended 2 Year Warranty on every Nikon D700, D3X and D3S purchased through authorised Australian Nikon retailers.

That’s double the standard warranty, so now is a great time to buy and take advantage of the extra cover and peace of mind.

For details of Nikon Australia's authorised dealers, click here.

Please remember: This special offer is only available when purchasing your camera through authorised Australian Nikon retailers.

This is not available for cameras purchased overseas. Please be wary of international dealers claiming to be able to sell or provide you an international warranty. This will not be a valid Nikon warranty. An international warranty is not available for the above items.

Terms & Conditions:

  • When you purchase any new Nikon Digital Equipment from a Nikon Australia authorised dealer*, you automatically receive a Nikon Warranty for the repair or replacement of your Digital Equipment in the event of any manufacturing defects for one year from the date of purchase (Warranty Period).
  • Proof of purchase must be presented when claiming under the Nikon Warranty. Proof of purchase may include the completed Nikon Warranty Card, the purchase receipt or any other evidence of purchase.
  • The Warranty Period begins on the date you purchased the Digital Equipment, as indicated on the purchase receipt or by any other evidence.
  • Nikon reserves the right to elect whether to repair or replace the Digital Equipment under this warranty. Repair or replacement of the Nikon equipment does not restart the Warranty Period.

This warranty does not cover:

  • Cleaning or maintenance of the equipment,
  • Damage to or failure of equipment due to normal use or fair wear and tear;
  • Damage caused by accident, misuse, do-it-yourself repairs, sand, grit or liquid ingress;
  • Repair (or replacement) of the equipment outside Australia or by another Nikon entity;
  • Defects or malfunctions caused by damage resulting from improper care, misuse or abuse, or operation of this product contrary to the instructions contained in the owner's manual;
  • Damage caused by any modification or servicing performed by person(s) other than Nikon authorised service facilities, any consequential or incidental damage resulting from a breach of this Nikon warranty (including as a result of any electronic data loss due to the malfunctioning or repair of the digital equipment).

Please note:

This warranty is not transferable and is only valid if the Digital Equipment was purchased in Australia. If you purchased your camera overseas, you will need to approach the relevant overseas Nikon entity for all support and warranty claims.

This warranty is offered by Nikon Australia Pty Limited. Depending on the equipment purchased, an additional warranty may be offered by an overseas member of the Nikon company group. To see if your Nikon equipment is also covered by an additional warranty, check to see whether the equipment is covered by a Nikon International Warranty (see the terms of any Nikon Service Warranty Card which came with the equipment).

Total production of NIKKOR lenses reaches 65 million

We’re pleased to announce that total production of NIKKOR interchangeable lenses for Nikon SLR cameras reached sixty-five million at the beginning of October 2011.

In 1959, Nikon (then Nippon Kogaku K.K.) released its first SLR camera, the Nikon F. At the same time, Nikon also released its first NIKKOR interchangeable lenses for Nikon SLR cameras. In the half century since, NIKKOR lenses have become the favorite lenses of a wide variety of users, and have been extremely well received by a great number of photo enthusiasts and professional photographers.

In March 2011, total production of NIKKOR lenses reached sixty million. Since then, Nikon has continued to expand the product lineup. The fact that NIKKOR continues to satisfy a wide variety of photographers is evidenced by production of an additional five million lenses in just half a year, bringing total production to sixty-five million.

Nikon snaps up “European Advanced SLR Camera of the Year” at EISA Awards

We’re pleased to announce that our D7000 has just won the ‘European Advanced SLR Camera of the Year’ at the EISA (European Imaging and Sound Association) awards. This follows up on its success in April at the TIPA (Technical Image Press Association) awards, where it won ‘Best D-SLR Advanced’, and the red dot product design awards, where it was also honoured for its design quality.

At the EISA awards, the judges commented that: “The D7000 is packed with the high-end features it inherited from the company’s D300 and D300S models. The solid body offers high-speed autofocus, a bright 3-inch LCD, Integrated Dust Reduction System, dual SDXC card slots and Full HD Video. An exceptionally good noise-control system means the 16.2-million-pixel-sensor can be used at ISO 6400 and still produce high quality, clean images – even at Hi 1(ISO 12800 equivalent) noise is not much of an issue.”

The EISA Awards recognise those products that will be appreciated by an enthusiast and professional audience who want high quality and creative features. The awards were chosen by panels representing over 50 prominent photo, video, audio, home theatre and mobile electronics magazines from around 20 European countries.
